The Alchemist

Thursday 22nd February at 18:00

Investigating the process of transforming something base into something better was all the rage during the Renaissance. Learning the basics of transmutation and purification to practice alchemy was a multi-staged process filled with symbolism and heady rituals taken from religion, popular magic, and natural philosophy.  Among others, we will look at Grand Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici and his son Francesco as examples of practitioners of alchemy.
