Art and Reproductions: What is so special about seeing the original?

There are near perfect copies of both of these, one by an artist and one by a machine.
There have always been copies of great works of art but today’s technology is so good that it can be difficult to tell one from the other. Still, everyone wants to see the original. Is this something to do with the artwork or something to do with us, the viewers? Lets try to understand by looking at the history of copies, advances in technology and our own psychology.
