The Mayor of Florence, Sara Funaro,  in conversation with Morgan Fiumi.

La Sindaca will talk about what is going on in Florence. How is Florence balancing preservation with progress? How is it supporting its next generation? How is it embracing a sustainable future? What are the priorities for safeguarding the city and ensuring social justice and opportunity for all its citizens? What can the city’s international community contribute to the betterment of Florence?  

The conversation will be in Italian with regular summaries in English.

Sara Funaro was born in 1976 in Florence. She graduated in clinical psychology at the University of Florence and specialized in psychotherapy at the Le Scotte Polyclinic in Siena. In 2009 she was appointed vice president of the public services company Firenze Montedomini.  A member of the Democratic Party, she served Councilor for health and equal opportunities during Dario Nardella’s two terms as Mayor from 2014 to 2024. In 2024 she was elected to become the first woman to hold the position of Mayor of the city of Florence.
