Voices from the Renaissance
A lecture by Lisa Kaborycha
Lisa Kaborycha Phd is a social historian of the Florentine Renaissance who spends her time doing original research in the great historical libraries and archives of the city. In this talk she will share examples of memoirs, letters, stories, poems, and art works that give eyewitness accounts of cold-blooded murders, lavish court pageants, the Black Death, the first views of artistic masterpieces and so on. These sources bring us into direct contact with the creators of the great Renaissance works of art, literature, philosophy, and science, as well as lesser-known people, who in their own words express emotions of love, loss, and spiritual yearning.
