Investigating the process of transforming something base into something better was all the rage during the Renaissance. Learning the basics of transmutation and purification to practice alchemy was a multi-staged process filled with symbolism and heady rituals taken from religion, popular magic, and natural philosophy.  Among others, we will look at Grand Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici and his son Francesco as examples of practitioners of alchemy.

 

In person:  €40 per session / €200 for full course

On Zoom: €30 per session / €150 for full course
