How Florence Won my Heart

A lecture by Mark Roberts

In the Preface to Mark Roberts’s new book Florence Has Won My Heart (Mount Orleans Press, 2024) there is a list of some thirty attractions that made him love the city. They include the frescoes of the life of St Sylvester, by Maso di Banco, at Santa Croce; the exceptionally sumptuous and gorgeous Madonna and Child, by Andrea Vanni, in the Uffizi; the harmonious façade of Palazzo Bartolini-Salimbeni, in piazza Santa Trinita; Titian’s La Bella  in the Palatine Gallery. In this talk he illustrates and describes all thirty items.
