Our Students
On this page you will find some of the countless stories of our students.
We are very proud of them, and reading their memories is the best recognition for our work.
Over the years, we have seen several generations of students grow up (and we have also grown up with them).
So, thank you to all our students, past, present and... future!
CAGED
This powerful poem was written by Camilla Berarducci who has been studying with us the past few years firstly doing IGCSE English Language and Literature, then Cambridge Advanced and currently focusing on English Literature, Poetry and Creative Writing. At the time of writing this amazing poem, Camilla was just 16 years old!
I am a bird in a cage – quiet –
Being watched.
Should I move?
The slightest flutter of a wing
Could upset the Cageless.
I find that I live better
In the silence of my fear,
Than the chitter of mindlessness.
(One false step,
And the cage could become a wall,
Over which I can’t see.)
So I stay.
What they can’t tell is that
I’m watching them,
Through the glimmer of the bars,
And that my silence
Is one of reflection.
Do they move?
So often, we observe and trap
The things which we so hate,
Without knowing,
We’re observing and trapping ourselves.
The cage is a mirror –
And I’m a reflection.
A bird, being watched.
Should I move?
If I move, you move,
We Hate
But we move together.
Leonardo Degl'Innocenti was our student from primary school to university.
