History of Winemaking in Chianti

A lecture by Guido Gualandi

This talk will focus on the creation of the Chianti consorzio and the development of new agricultural practices and winemaking in this celebrated wine region. The invention of the different Chianti's subzones and the changing forms of wine production from manual to mechanization have completely changed the wine. A short discussion of the  traditional grapes in  Chianti leading into a tasting of 3 different wines …  made by the speaker himself!

Guido Gualandi owns a farm in Tuscany and is a member of the Consorzio del Chianti Colli Fiorentini. He also teaches at Gonzaga University in Florence.
