The Polemicist

Tuesday 11th February 2025 at 18:00

Though women were mostly sidelined when it came to public debate and publishing on contentious subjects, a few female polemicists did manage to gain prominence during the Renaissance. This session looks at three controversial women writers—Arcangela Tarabocchi, Sara Copia Sulam, and Moderata Fonte—who defied all conventions and used their voices to rage against the rampant misogyny and dangerous antisemitism present in their world.
