This session examines the lives of three Renaissance women who unexpectedly became monarchs and found themselves navigating (to varying levels of success) halls of power both domestic and foreign. Queen of France Maria de’ Medici, Queen of Naples, Jerusalem & Sicily Giovanna I, and Queen of Poland Bona Sforza are the stars of this show.
