This walking tour will offer an historical and topographical introduction to Florence’s centre, with particular emphasis on the lasting itineraries established for foreigners during the Age of the Grand Tour, as well as the social and urban modernisation of Florence during the second half of the nineteenth century as documented by travel writers and visitors in the early years of national unity.
