Pagan and Early Christian Florence
This lecture will examine the major iconographic vocabulary of pagan and paleo-Christian art employed and revisited in medieval painting and sculpture in Florence, emphasizing the rich symbolism employed in religious narrative and devotional paintings of the 12th century.
